Lake Mead...sort of

This is from the northern part of Lake Mead Blvd. on the extreme northwest area of the Vegas Valley.

This may be a Bendire's Thrasher. While not rare here, they are uncommon. Ofcourse, I may have gotten the ID wrong!


The road I was on led to a gypsum plant. Here is a trucker opening his hatches before entering the plant:

We decided to go the the new iMagine casino located very, very close to our house. We wanted to try the buffet. Well why else would you go to a casino?

The iMagine reminded me very much of the Red Rock Casino, but less expensive. From what I've read about it, that was what they were reaching for. I think they did well.

The sand storm

We had been at lake Mead for about an hour when it attacked. And by it I mean a huge sand storm. They are fairly coomon out here.






Even Pooh, who loves being out at Lake Mead, was ready to go!!

More Lake Mead

When ever we go to Lake Mead we pick up trash. Its such a beautiful place it is a shame that people use it as their personal trash can! Here you can see Nancy doing the same thing which we appreciate very much!



Pooh and Tigger on a sniffing binge! Kind of like people and crack! One sniff is too many and a thousand sniffs is not enough!!!

Road Trip!

We tried to take the dogs to Sunset Park today(Saturday)

but it was not to be! The Boy Scouts had their exposition there .

The place was packed.

And then there was the coyote

While hanging at the beach today this guy showed up. Obviously not very offended by people. He was about 30-40 feet from us.
He mostly ingored us. That is until he heard Pooh and Tigger barking at him. Even then we only got a few glances. He then seemed to head into the lake to get a sip of water.
And then off to do whatever it is coyotes do. Scavenging moslty I guess.

Lake Mead Again

We went to Lake Mead again. What can I say, its free since we bought a year long pass! Right now free entertainment is a good thing! Not sure yet what these birds are.

P.S. After searching more I think they are American Avocets.

Today they brought out the sail boats. There was about 10 of them on the lake.

Lake Mead

Well we just can't get enough of Lake Mead. It is just so awesome out there. I got off of work a bit early today so we packed up and headed out there. Ofcourse we had to stop at Petsmart and get some doggy life vests which the dogs actually tolerated pretty well. Tigger's(the grey dog) was about 2 sizes tooo small. So we decided that it will be Carly's vest when she comes to live with us.
Lake Mead is a great place to just hang out and chill at. It was about 109F when we arrived there. After dipping in the water though it felt great. I could have just stayed in the water until I was a shiviled up prune!
Pooh as usual had a bit too much to drink, but he is old so I guess he is entitled.
